Hi there,

i've installed BOINC and added the renderfarm.fi project to my projects. But it always says "Error - No work available to process"

What can i do?

Needs to be in the FAQ :)

Hi and thank you for volunteering! Gekko just answered this question here. :)

That is bizarre ..

I have to admit I haven't come across this "feature" yet in Drupal. I need to check out what's going on with some of the forum posts not being accessible if you aren't logged in (I'm guessing you were logged in through http://renderfarm.fi instead of http://www.renderfarm.fi - another oversight we need to fix).

Meanwhile, here's quoting Gekko from that last post with the answer you were actually looking for:

"We only have any work available if any animators require the services of a big renderfarm. This oftentimes means that all the volunteering computers are sitting idle. RIght now we have been able to keep up with the demand and there hasn't been a huge queue of animations, but a month or two ago there was constantly a queue which we crunching. The number of our animations is based on how many short film projects are being made and how much we are appearing in public. I assume we get more animations after the Blender Conference."

Again thank you for volunteering. :)

okay, I am getting the "now

okay, i'm still confused over this.

There are projects in the queue, even ones that match with me exactly (win64). My client says "No work to proccess"

Interestingly it recieves a job in about 5min intervals, then goes to "No work" again, even though the same project still has like 300frames left to render. Is it my side or renderfarms?

Also, there's rarely anything under the transfers tab.

VERY IMPORTANT ISSUE

ehh, this is terrible. There's loads of rendering to be done and many projects are made for my OS and bitrate specifically, but BOINC just shruggs it's shoulders and says "no work to process". I mean there must be many computers hanging around like this and rendering is going fairly slowly right now with so many projects in the queue. MAIN ISSUE with renderfarm.fi right now in my opinion.

SOLVED

Okay so I got it working again after going to the edvanced view in BOINC and Projects tab. Buttons like Reset Project and Remove seemed to get it started again.

I hope this annoyance gets fixed some day as it would seem like this could be a major pool plug. Unattended computers are likely to just sit there doing nothing because of this issue.

Didn't work the first time

I downloaded BOINC a few months back and I got the same "ERROR no work available to process" message all the time back then. I downloaded it again and I'm still getting the same message. I have my comp set to run cpu/gpu and network 24/7 so I'm not sure what up. Also I had to do the cmd line work around to even add the project this time around as I was getting the "failed to login" message when adding the project.

Perhaps everything was just in queue

Perhaps everything was just in queue because it seems to be working fine today, took a while to notice though as my comp doesn't show signs of bogging at 100% cpu load. One question though, I uploaded a render yesterday under the title "Room Animation" and today I do not see it in the active session and it's not available on CATS. Did it not get approved? Can the admin let me know why so I know what to fix, I've never rendered on the farm before so I may be missing something. Thanks

There is 7837: Room upload

There is 7837: Room upload test in the queue, which I haven't accepted yet as it is a Cycles render AND there is a problem in that .blend which requires that we make a new bug fix release. We are not doing user submitted Cycles renders yet as we (jesterKing mostly) still has one last nut to crack. However, since the release is getting close we decided begin keeping Cycles renders in the queue ready for larger scale testing when we make the release.

Ok, thanks I'll check in to

Ok, thanks I'll check in to see when it's all set. That's actually my second upload and I do see it in the queue, my first one was in the queue but didn't end up in the render list with the others but it too was a cycles render.
