Development news: Back-end changes in Renderfarm.fi and BURP
We will be moving Renderfarm.fi/ORE to a new Tomcat based back-end solution (with a rewritten XMLRPC interface) developed by Olivier Romand from our dev team. Recent discussions with Janus Kristensen (jbk) would indicate that this approach and code can be merged with the main BURP branch, meaning that it'll be easier to maintain and that we're finally able to contribute something quite major back towards BURP. The change should, if all goes well, be completely unnoticeable to you guys. However, as with any major transitions, there might be downtime (expect this during next weekend 4.-6.6.2010) and some bugs - especially related to the XMLRPC (meaning the uploader might have some issues).
Why are we doing this? Because the new solution promises to be more efficient and secure. Meanwhile the rewritten XMLRPC interface will be simpler to extend and maintain (we're getting rid of a clumsy solution here). Finally the changes mean that there will be some cool integration happening that I'll announce later.
