I'm pretty new to this, so sorry if I'm missing something obvious, but I've installed Boinc and attached the renderfarm.fi project successfully, but I cannot download any tasks.

All I get in messages is "Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks" over and over again...

...so once someone submits work, it will become available to download?

Or is the project on hold?

To download the rendered

To download the rendered images you are supposed to use <a href="http://www.renderfarm.fi/cats">cats</a>.
(If you get it working please write how <a href="http://www.renderfarm.fi/forum/post/1027">here</a>.)

EDIT: the a-tag doesn't seem to work although it's said to be allowed.

Yes, as long as you run the BOINC client program and have it attached to the project it will automatically pick up work when there is any.

Sessions under the "Accept"

Sessions under the "Accept" header are waiting for admin approval. They have been making a lot of changes to the project over the past couple of weeks, so I would expect to see them approved soon.

Still learning the accept cycle, check out the uploader

Yes unfortunately we're still quite "young" in using the admin interface and checking the .blend files so you have to bare with us. We're aiming for a much faster acceptance/rejecting rate (the aim being 24h from the end of March onwards), but this will take some practise. I'm hoping that more people start using the uploader script now (as it's been released just last night), making it also easier for us to have accept pieces to be rendered because of some pre-upload checks that the script does.

You should advertise the uploader script, at least write news, and they will get to all DC stats/news sites over RSS!

Advertising ..

Thanks for the interest and support guys. Once we get the Blender 2.5 clients up I think I will do some advertising. However Im a little hesitant to overdo it as I think its important that once people really start to find the service that they get a good image of its capabilities. Im still feeling a bit shaky about all the settings that need checking before a work will be rendered succesfully.

Still, I guess people will understand that we're very much a alpha/beta project and alot of work is ahead in order to make the service a really professional alternative to "traditional rendering grids". However, I think I can now declare that this is really now our aim. Creating an open, professionally ran alternative to "traditional" renderfarms.
