Renderfarm.fi is currently being maintained by Laurea University of Applied Sciences and is being mainly operated from the LaureaSID Labs in Espoo, Finland. The main site administrator and person in responsible is Julius Tuomisto from LaureaSID Networks.

Renderfarm.fi was first developed within the ORE (Open Rendering Environment), which ran from June 2008 to December 2009. It received financial backing from Tekes (Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation), Otaverkko Ltd, Star Wreck Studios Ltd and COSS (Finnish Centre for Open Source Solutions).
