New build of Renderfarm.fi Blender released!

We're super excited to announce that we've finished work on the new version of the Renderfarm.fi uploader script. This means we can now provide you guys with new builds of Blender 2.5 with the new improved script in them. The new version also fixes a nasty bug that has caused some of the recent renders fail (as witnessed by many black preview boxes in the gallery). New features include:

  • Settings verification: the uploader will now help you in preparing your .blend file for a successful render on Renderfarm.fi
  • Session management: you will now be able to list your own sessions, see their progress and even cancel sessions that haven't been accepted yet
  • More intuitive use: You are no longer required to remember your user id, just your e-mail and password on Renderfarm.fi will suffice
  • Version updates: You can easily check for new builds from within Blender

Adding a production blog / webpage to your session

For anybody who might have missed this, the reason why we let users provide a "Project URL" in the uploader is that it lets the "animator" add a project page or production blog URL to their animation easily:

We'll soon (within a week) be adding this field to the animation display in a similar way to what is being done with sessions linked to Wreckamovie.com shots (see example). An icon displaying the words "production page" will be added to animations / stills, the icon will then link to the URL provided by the user upon commit.

So if you're hosting a home page about your renders, having a production blog about your movie (whether on Renderfarm.fi, Wreckamovie.com or any other place) feel free to use the field to advertise it.

We're pleased to announce the fact that the new Blender 2.5A2 builds have been successfully completed and integrated with the new version of the uploader script that will help in uploading work to Renderfarm.fi. The new features include:


  • Settings verification: the uploader will now help you in preparing your .blend file for a successful render on Renderfarm.fi
  • Session management: you will now be able to list your own sessions, see their progress and even cancel sessions that haven't been accepted yet

Equally importantly this issue fixes an annoying bug that was prevalent in the previous release. This bug caused some of the more recent renders fail. These renders now appear to be all black in the gallery. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope that everybody downloads the new version as soon as possible.
