ORE DVD shipping + Query in Finnish SME's

The final produce of the ORE project (2008-2010, Laurea University of Applied Sciences), the so-called ORE DVD, started shipping today to members of unions and associations functioning in Finnish creative industries. Some 850 members of ATL, SIO Ornamo, TKO Ornamo and Satu ry are expected to receive the DVD, which includes the Renderfarm.fi build of Blender 2.5, open movies Big Buck Bunny and Elephant's Dream and many Finnish productions where Blender has been used as a part of the workflow (here's a great example). The DVD was created in order to promote both Blender and Renderfarm.fi to Finnish SME's functioning in the creative industries.
Query to Finnish SME's in Creative Industries
The DVD is being shipped with a questionnaire on the use and understanding of social media and open licensing among SME's in the Finnish creative industry. The results of the returned question forms will hopefully shed light on the current standing of the open movement in the creative fields in Finland. During the next week or two, we will translate the questionnaire and ask the same questions from you guys. Perhaps the cross-referencing of the results could provide some additional information. All resulting studies and theses' will be made available through Renderfarm.fi for your viewing pleasure.

Renderfarm.fi stress testing 9.-11.4.2010

If you are experiencing problems with this, please place any comments to us as soon as possible. The rendering is a test related to a commercial pilot that is a part of the ORE project.
Blender 2.5a0: Renderfarm.fi Distribution released!

For this reason, we've created a python script that makes it possible for a user to upload render sessions to Renderfarm.fi directly from an instance of Blender. This has now been included to a special distribution of Blender, available both on a limited edition DVD and here. The script also checks that the scene settings are correct in order for the render to succeed. Note that in order to send work to Renderfarm.fi through the uploader, you still need to own an account on the service. You will find the simple instructions for using the uploader from here. New to Blender 2.5? Don't worry - we'll be hosting a blog for tutorials on using Blender 2.5 soon.
Please keep in mind that Blender 2.5 is still very much in Alpha (ie. changes happen daily) and that the uploader script is in Beta. Also note that although support for the new Blender 2.5 internal render engine is coming online during the next few days, until that time you can use the uploader to upload animations and stills done with Blender 2.48a.
