In this Blender tutorial by Kent Trammell you’ll be introduced to a basic sculpting workflow for creating a human bust. The final result of the tutorial is shown below.
What you’ll learn:
Starting with a simple base mesh, you’ll learn to shape form and anatomy with an artistic perspective in Blender’s Sculpt Mode with brushes like Grab, Draw, Inflate, Pinch, and Crease. The majority of the sculpting is done symmetrically. Towards the end of the sculpt we’ll pose the torso easily in Edit Mode with the proportional editing tool, while maintaining the sculpted detail in the Multiresolution modifier.
If you’re not familiar with Blender’s sculpting system then I recommend you check out our Introduction Blender’s Sculpting System video. It is slightly out of date now, but most of the content is still relavant.

A smokey brown cockroach model rigged with walk cycle, wing open and wing flapping actions. All of the objects and armatures are separated out on different layers, trying to keep things organized. Layer 11 contains the roach model prior to the mirror modifier being applied. I used shape keys on the wings as the open so if they dont look right check their shape key values. Layers 16 contains the hair objects I used in the particle systems. The textures are included. Yah I think thats about it. Any questions or whatever feel free to ask. Here is a low poly .blend file of a sword that I was using in a short film I am shooting with my son. I needed a CG version of the sword for use during the parts of the film when it was being wielded by a CG character, and decided to share the finished blend here. It is my first upload, so hopefully someone will find it useful in some project (I realize it’s not a terribly complex model. The openings on the hilt aren’t opened up because they wouldn’t have even shown for my purposes at the time. Feel free to open them up if you need to though. Blend on!
